What: Protest against school closures at Oakland Unified School District board meeting
When: Wednesday, November 13, 4:30 p.m.
Where: 1050 2 nd Avenue, Oakland (The Great Room at La Escuelita Elementary School)

Oakland public school students, parents, and educators will continue using creative, nonviolent, direct action to oppose the Oakland Unified School District’s (OUSD) policy of closing and privatizing public schools this Wednesday, November 13. Teachers and community members from across the district will mobilize to the OUSD board meeting to call for a moratorium on all school closures until the summer of 2022, among other demands. School closures and charters are destroying public education in Oakland, especially in communities of color.
Despite a violent police attack on peaceful protestors at the October 23 school board meeting, Oakland Is Not for Sale will continue using nonviolent direct action to oppose privatization and to demand quality public education for all Oakland students.

At 4:30 p.m. Oakland Is Not for Sale and Oakland Public Education Network will join the Black Organizing Project’s pre-meeting rally outside of La Escuelita to support the release BOP’s People’s Plan for Police-Free Schools by 2020.
